Buckle up for the thrill ride that is the Taken series. This is the final entry of the trilogy featuring Liam Neeson as Bryan Mills. The former CIA operative is once again embroiled in a thrilling tale of suspense. Framed for a murder he didn’t commit, Mills is on the run both from the police and the people who actually committed the crime. He once again has to call upon his “particular set of skills” to stay ahead of the law, protect his daughter and prove his innocence.

Once again Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen give us more of what we’ve come to expect from these characters: Car chases, fight scenes, and other assorted action sequences Luc Besson is known for. Capably directed by Olivier Megaton, the action moves smoothly from one scene to the next with just the right amount of pacing. Megaton knows his way around an action movie having given us Hitman, Colombiana, and others.

As far as what I didn’t like, it’s a minor thing. The movie didn’t really give the audience anything new. It’s basically the same formula used in most action films. That being said, it’s not that much of a big deal for me because that’s what I’ve come to expect in action movies. Like I said, it’s minor. I did enjoy the film and they did a good job of keeping me interested from beginning to end. The tagline said “It Ends Here,” but I didn’t feel a definitive ending when it was over.

Around our offices, we’re all fans of Taken and while this one didn’t disappoint, in the end, we didn’t feel that it was as good as the first two. If you really love action movies I think you’ll enjoy this one, but don’t expect to see anything new here.
